Meet Our Stylist
Olivia Gemmell
Hi! My name is Olivia and I am the owner of Olive Beauty Co! Opening a salon has been a dream of mine since I started in this industry as a shampoo assistant back when I was 16. I have always loved to style hair but took the academic route through high school. I was your typical “college bound” student. But I was so stuck when it came to what I wanted to be. I switched back and forth so many times it was actually ridiculous! That was until I shadowed at a salon and fell IN LOVE with this industry and all it has to offer!
I started beauty school a month after graduating high school and I have never looked back. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and never wanted to work for someone else long term! I was top of my class in beauty school and received many awards throughout my time, including the Professional Award!
After beauty school, I decided to go right back to school to pursue my educators license. I had found a natural love for teaching and ended up getting a part time job teaching right out of that program. This was all while I started building a clientele at a local area salon.
In July of 2018, I got married and moved with my then husband to Chesapeake, VA. It was such a wild and amazing ride to get to move and start over! I learned so much working at that salon, including falling in love with curly hair and extensions!
In August 2020, we were moved again to St. Marys, Georgia! It was here that I had the opportunity to open my business as a booth rent stylist. If my time in VA secured my hair skills, my time in GA made me a great business owner! I grew immensely and had some really great friends and mentors there!
Now it brings us to March 2022! In the middle of a divorce, I decided it was time to move home and stop putting my own dreams on hold. I opened OBC as a safe haven for myself more than anything. A place I could go and be completely me. I took a huge leap of faith and am so glad I did! I am so fulfilled and excited for the next phase in my career and life!
